These counting chambers have counting grids which are engraved into an annealed metal coating. Under normal microscope settings the counting grid appears as a grid of bright lines. By altering the contrast, the counting grid can also be made to appear dark.
the Neubauer-improved chambers have 25 group squares with each consisting of 16 small squares = total 400 small squares of 0.05 x 0.05 mm
